..where Elliot Smith, BLITZ's resident Igor begins his nostalgic journey through Jack Nicholson's cinematic closet..
Ever since i could grow side burns i cut them to the same length as Jack Nicholson's. During the 70's, Jack began to carve out a role for himself as the intellectual hard man, starring in movies that today stand as classics of American cinema. Films like Bob Rafelson's Five Easy Pieces and The King Of Marvin Gardens, Hal Ashby's The Last Detail, Polanski's Chinatown and Milos Foreman's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest contain some of the most memorable performances in cinema and some of the best dressed protagonists i have ever seen.
Five Easy Pieces (1970)
Jack's character Bobby comes from two worlds : an upper class bourgeois musical family and a working man's oil rig. When on the rig Bobby wears baseball tees, thermals, check shirts, levi's jeans and jacket and a pair of Red Wings.
At home with his family Bobby wears roll neck sweaters and corduroy suit jackets. His wardrobe directly reflects the world he is in and the conflict that these two worlds leave in him.
