VINTAGE HASSELHOFF
Similar to when David Hasselhoff took down the Berlin Wall single-handed, the fences obstructing Brick Lane are finally away. Newly re-branded Tarmac Lane is now pedestrian friendly once again!
The Hoff has been quoted saying 'I don't really remember much about Berlin to be honest but this is great news I do love a stroll down the Lane unhassled of a weekend!'

UNDERCOVER ALMOND
Detective Almond (alias) is now patrolling the beat here. He describes himself as a maverick who doesn't play by the rules and he likes his port with lemonade.

St JOHNS BREAD & WINE
Apparently I'm last to the table on this one but St Johns Bread and Wine do breakfast, and alongside porridge and prunes and honey on toast they have what they describe as 'the Bacon Sandwich of your nocturnal fantasies.'
The bacon's smokey and crispy, the bread's seared but still doughy inside and there's loads of both - the only other ingredient is spicy homemade tomato ketchup, and although at £5.90 you won't be hitting it everyday, in the cutthroat arena of the deluxe sandwich it is simply peerless.

VALENTINE'S SHMALENTINE'S
We are not known for being a particularly over sentimental or twee store, so it's only fitting we should have some super-rad Valentine's cards with pictures of Frankenstein, dinosaurs and pugs on. Beats some awful schmaltz from Clinton's any day of the week.
All cards are digital prints by Rebekah Shirley on handmade & dyed paper.

STUPID CUPID Part 2
Our quest to find the perfect Valentine's gifts for all our customers continued instore this afternoon. Today's couple I like to think of as the '90s Rave Kidz (see the all important use of the letter Z. It means nothing if you use the simple S). Part Hacienda throw-back, part urban b-boy, part Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast member- these guys are serious about bold colours and even bolder patterns. And oh what fun I had finding some of the most headache-inducing colour combinations I could. It's about defying the cold snatch and pretending like it's high summer... all the time.
Couple No. 2: The 90s Rave Kidz
She likes: Will Smith circa 1990, body-con, ridiculous 80s fashion, Ev Vogue, stone-wash denim, Sister Sister, fringing, chunky ghetto gold, bright lipsticks and Nike Air Max
He likes: Aztec print, bow-ties, Wu-Tang Clan, box-fresh trainers, East vs. West coast arguments, street art, snap-backs, the high-top fade and Nike Air Max

STUPID CUPID
For those in a lovely, warm and fuzzy relationship, the yearly dilemma of how to celebrate Valentine's day is looming on the horizon. Do you spend it at the cinema, not actually talking or interacting with each other, being forced to watch a predictably dry rom-com (vom), something which you would never dream of watching, let alone inflicting upon someone you like? Or how about a limp, over-priced three-course disappointment where you are forced to sit chair-to-chair, overhearing other couples' awkward conversations..? As you might have guessed I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day. That said I've had a hella fun day imagining the perfect Valentines gifts for imaginary couples. So let the folks at Blitz take the heat-off the present finding minefield, as we guide you through some super-rad ideas for your beau. And for those who are single... I think a little bit of self-gifting might be in order.
