After many years of education and fashion titillation from these guys, finally I get to work with the great chronicle of youth culture!
Believe me when I tell you of the pride I have in exhibiting these works by the photographers who were there, “on the ground” as we say. These are the guys who understood immediately, the taste-makers, the genuine manipulators of the cultural zeitgeist.
Look around Blitz and you will see our re-interpretation of all that will be displayed in this ever-evolving permanent exhibition.
Ever since my interest in vintage fashion started in the early 90’s I have been conscious of the origins of what we today recycle into our postmodern fashion landscape. The people you see here and the photographers who captured their energy are our inspiration, the link between then and now that resonates through Blitz. Every person who reads this will have been influenced by these images, whether you realise it or not. Just look at your wardrobe, your music collection, the covers of your books.
Perhaps in years to come we will be showing images of our customers, delighting in how they influenced future trends? I hope so.
All of the PYMCA prints are limited at Blitz to an issue of one. We won’t reprint any, we just replace from the hundreds of images we have access to.
